I had the pleasure of listening to this amazing track by Kudo. It’s called ‘Middle Fingers’ and it is OFFICIALLY my new anthem. Kudo was inspired by “fellow minority women and the ‘Me Too’ movement.” Starting off as a DJ and producer, this is her debut as an artist. It truly bangs!
On top of an upbeat, chill beat she starts off by singing “out with the old, it’s a new year.” We’ve all been there with our “new year, new me” attitudes. That’s what this song exemplifies: attitude. It’s about standing up for yourself and not caring what other people think about it. It has a touch of swagger to it as well. I love her line where she expresses “feeling Gucci fine.” I definitely can’t afford that brand but have absolutely put together something that made me feel Gucci fine. Her line “pay what you owe me” is reminiscent of Rihanna’s popular track “Bitch Better Have My Money.” I love seeing a fellow woman of color express herself in such a carefree, yet intentional way.
Kudo is a fresh, new voice on the scene and clearly someone to keep on your radar. With “Middle Fingers” as her first track, she is set to change the game with her raw lyrics and crisp sound. You can listen to the track on Soundcloud and Spotify.
